This year the Arkadia ShortFest exhibition platform proposes “Fighting with Mozart”.

ExpoShortfest 2018 proposes an interactive installation signed by Mihai Zgondoiu.

ExpoShortfest is the exposition platform for Arkadia ShortFest Short-film International Festival that exposes each year to the audience artistic projects cherished on a national and international scale, which are installed in unconventional spaces and deliver an authentic experience for art lovers.

On the occasion of the fifth edition, ExpoShort Fest brings into the new scene of Corbu beach the exhibition “Fighting with Mozart” signed by Mihai Zgondoiu. An installation that was selected last year at viennacontemporary, one of the most renewed art fares in Europe. Among the most recent exhibitions and projects signed by this artist and curator we can count Fighting with Mozart! (  Creart – Bucharest Gallery), EXTRAfaces (  Uj Kriterion Gallery  – Miercurea Ciuc), Noul Zid (Calina – contemporary art space Timișoara), Dada Brâncuși( MB-XL Gallery – Bruxelles /   Galateca Gallery – Bucharest), Mâna de aur a artistului ( FivePlus Gallery – Vienna /  Aiurart Gallery – Bucharest), Somnul lui Lenin (Piața Presei – Bucharest Linia Roșie (National Dance Center Bucarest) și Covorul Roșu (  Schlooss Court Museum – Linz).

In his artistic practice, Muhai Zgondoiu moves at ease within a large spectrum of genres and visual styles, from design, collage and experimental print to video installations, performances and urban interventions. His projects are evoking a questioning (and self-critique) of the mental clichés from our society, by taking into parody the false values and icons created by new media through diverse fake news propaganda.

Let’s see what Mihai Zgondoiu is saying about this exhibition: “The carpet The Abduction from the Seraglio, very dear to Romanians 30 years ago, is becoming today an old school symbol of contemporary kitsch. It has been discarded form their memory after ’89 and left space for the new consumerist products. The interactive installation Fighting with Mozart is made of a punching ball, two gloves on a wall tapestry and a sound system voicing phragments from the opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The public may physically box into the Mozart’ s opera while watching the installation.

The opening of the exhibition curated by Dan Lazea will be happening on wensday, 15 of august, starting from 20:00.  Visitors have daily access to Expo ShortFest starting from 10:00, the whole festival.
